Caroline Suffered 8 Joint Surgeries due to Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome… Whealth helped her get her life back!

“Whealth’s Hypermobility program helped me feel confident in my body for the first time in years after eight major joint surgeries and being diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). I have had reconstructive surgeries on both ankles, knees, and hips. (If you are looking for specifics... bilateral tibial/fibular derotational osteotomies, b. femoral osteotomies, b. tibial tubercle osteotomies, and b. hip joint reconstruction. So yes I am more titanium than flesh at this point LOL)

Growing up as a competitive dancer, I was never a stranger to physical pain. It was after all eight surgeries pushed me out of my sport as a teen, though, that it became a dominant feature of my life.

My athletic conditioning waned with each month out of the studio, taking with it muscle mass and my health.

Years of using crutches with poor technique left my shoulders weak, painful, and injury-prone. My functional ability and self-concept were at an all-time low.

Last year, the seemingly random constellation of symptoms I’d accumulated over the years was given an explanation: hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS).

With the hEDS label came a list of “no’s”: No contact sports. No high-impact. No running. Most memorably, I was told that I should never raise my “unstable” and “damaged” shoulders above 90 degrees, even to lift something onto a shelf.

The list startled me. Try telling an early-20s former athlete never to raise her hands above her head again—I can nearly promise you, she won’t be thrilled.

At the encouragement of my Heaven-sent bendy friend, I tried the program that had brought her success: Whealth’s Hypermobility program. I started 8 months ago, and the gently progressing plan (I did 5x/week, 30-40min/day) helped me move beyond my learned fear of movement, and I began to challenge my body’s limits again.

Now, for the first time in years, I feel confident in my body. I feel strong. Not only has the Hypermobility program dramatically reduced my pain, but it’s also helped me build enough strength to return to movements I love: dancing, powerlifting-style weight training, and recently even some light tumbling skills. Whealth was the biggest tool in restoring my confidence and quality of life. I couldn’t be happier, and this is only the beginning.”
